Outlook Express Setup Instructions

Creating an e-mail box on your Web server in your Control Panel on Linux Hosting Plans (Plesk Control Panel Servers only)

  1. Open up browser and Login to control panel (control panel URL will be in your account confirmation email)
  2. Inside Client control panel click on your domain name at the bottom of your screen
  3. Inside domain control panell click "mail" button
  4. Inside mail control panel click "Add new mail name" button
  5. Type in the name of the email you want in the "Mail name" field (Example: if you want to add the mailbox name "bob@somedomain.com" just type "bob" in this field; the control panel includes the domain name for you.)
  6. Type the password into both password fields.
  7. Click on the "Mailbox" checkbox to say you want a POP3 mailbox on the Web server.
  8. Scroll your browser down to the bottom of the page and click on "OK" button.
  9. Congratulations! You just set up an email box for your domain.
  10. For an explanation on other mail features that can be added to your mailbox refer the the "help" button in the lower right corner.

Setting up email box in Outlook Express: Linux Hosting Plans

Setting up outlook is quite simple, but a quick picture walkthrough will help get the idea.

1.) Open Microsoft Outlook Express. This can be found on XP Machines under Start -> All Programs -> Outlook Express

2.) Click on "Tools" at the top menu bar and click on "Acounts"

3.) Click on the tab labeled as "Mail"

4.) Click the button labeled "Add" and then "Mail"

5.) Follow the wizard. Below are screen shots of example data being inserted.

 

Click "Ok" and then close the window behind it.  Send yoruself, friends, and if you want, support@amhosting.com an email saying, "This is a test email".

Creating a email box in your Control Panel server: Linux Hosting Plans (cPanel Control Panel Servers Only)

  1. Open up browser and Login to control panel (control panel URL will be in your account confirmation email)
  2. Click on "Manage Account" in the email section.
  3. Click on "Add Account"
  4. Type in "email" name and password
  5. click "create"

Setting up email box in Outlook Express: Cpanel Hosting Plans

  1. For manual setup open up Outlook and click on "tools" then "accounts" (make sure your on "mail" tab) then click on "add" and select "mail".
  2. Type in your display name and click "next"
  3. It should ask you for your email address type in full email address and click "next"
  4. Incoming mail server should be set to "POP3"
  5. Incoming mail server: type in "mail.domainame.com"
  6. Outgoing mail server: type in "mail.domainame.com"
  7. Account Name: type in the whole email address. (example: if your email address is "bob@yourdomain.com" type in the whole email address "bob@yourdomain.com" )
  8. Password: Type in the password that you set for the mail account in the control panel, this is not necessarily the same password as your hosting account password.
  9. Log on using Secure Password Authentication: leave this box unchecked, if you check this it will not work.
  10. Click "Next" and then "Finish"
  11. Now go into your mail properties and compare the screenshot below to your settings. Make sure the checkbox "My server requires authentication" is check see shaded area below. 
  12. Your done, provided you have everything set up in your control panel and your domain DNS is transferred you should be able to send and receive mail with a good internet connection. If you can recieve mail but not send mail, please try using your ISP's outgoing mail server in the "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" field as many ISP's are blocking outside mail servers in an effort to cut down on spam originating from their network.

Setting up email box in your Control Panel: Windows Hosting Plans (Ensim Control Panel Servers)

  1. Open up browser and Login to control panel (control panel URL will be in your account confirmation email)
  2. Click on "Email Users"
  3. On the bottom click on the bar that say's "Add Email User to domain yourdomain.com"
  4. Fill in the fields that you want, required fields are the "username" field which is going to be your email name (example if the desired email box you want is "bob@yourdomain.com" fill in "bob" as the username) and the password fields.

Setting up email box in Outlook Express: Windows Hosting Plans
